Acupuncturists, there's an app for that!

There's an app for that!

In the past, we've talked about the many advantages of Jasmine being on the Salesforce platform. One advantage we haven't talked much about is the Salesforce AppExchange.

The AppExchange as you might have guessed is similar to the Apple AppStore. The difference is instead of installing apps on your phone, you can install apps into the cloud. All on the same platform as Jasmine!

Say what?!

The AppExchange has thousands of apps to help you run your business.

One of the main strengths of a platform is the power of it's ecosystem. The AppExchange ecosystem is the best!

Many of the companies that acupuncturists already use are on the AppExchange. And many of the apps are free!

Here are just a few of the apps you'll find on the AppExchange:

MailChimp

Docusign

QuickBooks

Take a second and browse the AppExchange and see what you find!

If you find something interesting and will help acupuncturists, let me know!

Acupunture Patient Testimonials

Imagine your perfect acupuncture treatment. A patient walks in the door and immediately after the treatment, the patient is cured of all ailments. Amazing!

The patient is profusely thanking you and loving on you. Violating both your personal space and doctor-patient relationship. Aww and eek at the same time!

What do you do?

You thank them for coming and let them walk out the door. NO!

You've just performed a miracle and your patient is open to any request you make. Why would you miss this opportunity?

This is the perfect time to ask your patient for a testimonial!

A testimonial is the most powerful marketing tool you can use. If I look at my own buying habits, I usually buy things that have been recommended by my friends and have good reviews online.

That's why Amazon's review system is so powerful. Baked into each product listing is a rating system as well as customer reviews that turn into testimonials. Chi-Ching!

Anatomy of a great testimonial

Again, you've just given the perfect acupuncture treatment. Don't waste it by getting a boring, bland testimonial.

A great testimonial has 2 elements: a picture of the patient and tells a story about the patient's experience at your clinic.

A picture creates trust and lets the reader know that the testimonial is from a real person. But first, ask your patient if you can use their picture, so you don't violate HIPAA confidentiality!

A story makes the testimonial unique and persuasive. If it comes off as cookie cutter, your potential patients are going to pick up on it.

I looked high and low for a good acupuncture testimonial. I decided to get a testimonial from a product site to protect the innocent.

Here's a testimonial that illustrates my points, it even includes a picture of a smiling baby. Awww!

How to get testimonials?

When getting patient testimonials, you want to make it as easy as possible for them. The less work they have to do, the more likely they'll doing it. Great life lesson that extends beyond this!

A great trick for getting patient testimonials is to present your patient with a prewritten testimonial by you and given to them to look over and endorse. Just sign on the dotted line!

If you're patients wish to write their own testimonial, even better! You can be the proof reader.

Where to use testimonials?

The great thing about testimonials is that you can use them EVERYWHERE!

With the SAME testimonial, you can put it on:

  • Your website as an endorsement and social proof
  • Your social media pages (Facebook, Twitter, etc...)
  • All marketing ads
  • Email blasts
  • Blogs
  • Shouting it from the mountain top!

EVERYWHERE!

How Jasmine helps?

In Jasmine, we have a Follow Up email feature, which automatically sends to patients after their visit. The Follow Up email is a great place to put your testimonial ask from your patient and to drive them to your social media sites.

You'll never forget to ask for a testimonial again!

Many acupuncturists won't know this until it's too late!

Many acupuncturists won't know this until it's too late!

If I ate a chicken fried steak every time someone wanted to switch to Jasmine from another system, and THEN to find out their current system doesn't allow them to export ALL their data, I'd be a VERY fat kid.

There are many reasons you would want to export your data from your acupuncture software.

First, technology and software is progressing at a break neck pace these days and new products and services are coming to market quicker than ever.

I can recall, only a few years ago, there being less than a handful of acupuncture software offerings, and now, acupuncturists have tons to choose from. Which is great for the community and competition!

The speed of progress and the plethora of choices, means that, as an acupuncturists, you might try one software and decide later on, you want to switch to another piece of software.

Another reason is that companies come and go. The companies around today may not be around in a few years, so you'll want to get your data out of them before they go under.

So, when purchasing software for your acupuncture practice to store patient sensitive data, you'll want to make sure to hedge against the above mentioned situations.

When investigating a piece of software, make sure to ask the vendor:

  • If you can export your patient data and in what format?
  • What patient data gets exported?
  • Ask for an example of the exported data.

Export to CSV

The export should be in a common data format that can be easily read by another system or at the very least, read by a developer to be converted to another system.

The format commonly used these days is CSV, short for Comma Separated Values. Comma Separated Wha?!

Let's go to the Googles.

So CSV, allows you to import and export data and share it with different applications. Also, CSV files can be easily opened by any spreadsheet application like Excel.

And, I do highly recommend opening the exported CSV files in your preferred spreadsheet app and taking a look. Everything should be nicely formatted, just like you would expect a spreadsheet to look like!

How Jasmine Helps

Jasmine allows you to export ALL your data in CSV format, in addition to the data, PDF files and images are also exported. Basically everything under the sun!

To get a sense of what the process looks like, take a look at our documentation.

Exporting Jasmine Data

One of our core tenets is "you own your data" and you should be able to easily take it anytime you want.

"You own your data"

So don't be stuck up shits creek without a paddle! Ask the questions upfront and ask to see what the data export looks like.

Happy Chinese New Year 2016!

Happy Chinese New Year! And if you're born in the Year of the Monkey, celebrate and bask in the glory of sharing it with the likes of Leonardo da Vinci. Go you!

I have fond memories as a young kid, going to Chinese restaurants, and the first thing I would do after sitting down was read all the zodiac signs, even though I had read them hundreds of times before. And then I would reread my own zodiac sign and feel a sense of pride. (Remember those standard red place mats!)

Holidays like Chinese New Year are a great opportunity for you to take advantage of for marketing your acupuncture practice. Did you take advantage of it?

How many of you let a great marketing opportunity like this fly by? Only to realize when it's too late. (Maybe you're sitting there right now with fists in the air, cursing yourself for missing this one!)

I know I have. There have been many times when a day arrives and I belatedly realize I could have aligned a great marketing campaign with that day. After this happening multiple times and feeling bad about it, I said no more!

Now, I setup a marketing calendar with reminders to help me remember. A great hack you can use in your practice too!

I've put together a list of monthly health related holidays for acupuncturists. You can start with this list and make it your own.

Click to Download the Marketing Calendar for Acupuncturists!

Happy Chinese New Year and I hope you get all the red envelopes!
